Prof. Dr. Todor Uzunov, PhD

Professor Todor Uzunov is the national expert in Prosthetic Dental Medicine at the Expert Council for Specialized Dental Activities of the Ministry of Health. He is the Head of the Department of Prosthetic Dental Medicine at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Medical University - Sofia, and Chair of the State Examination Board for the specialty of Prosthetic Dental Medicine. He also serves as Chair of the Scientific Committee of the International Scientific Congress of the Bulgarian Dental Union and as Editor-in-Chief of the “DentaMedica” journal - the official publication of the Bulgarian Dental Union.

In his distinguished academic and scientific career, Prof. Uzunov has held numerous key positions, including Vice-Dean for International Integration and Foreign Language Education at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, and Institutional Coordinator of the Erasmus+ program at the Faculty. He served two terms as Vice President of the Bulgarian Dental Union and was Chair of the Communication Committee. Additionally, he was the Organizational Secretary of the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Dental Medicine for two terms.

Among Prof. Uzunov’s distinctions are a certificate for the most successful doctoral research in dentistry for the period 2003-2005 and the honorary “Signum Laudis” medal for outstanding contributions to the functioning and development of the Medical University - Sofia.

Prof. Uzunov holds specializations in Prosthetic Dental Medicine and Dental Implantology. He has led five scientific university projects under the Medical Science Council at MU - Sofia, three of which received an “Excellent” rating. He is also a co-leader of the project “BiomimetaMechanics”, part of the initiatives of the Research University at MU - Sofia, funded by the European Union through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Republic of Bulgaria.

With extensive practical experience and exceptional skills, Prof. Uzunov is a recognized expert in prosthetic dental medicine, dental implantology, and periodontology. His approach to patient care emphasizes precision, aesthetics, and long-term functionality. By combining traditional methods with innovative technologies, he develops and applies personalized treatment plans that ensure high-quality outcomes. His knowledge and skills are grounded in years of experience and deep scientific expertise, placing him among the leading specialists in the country.

With over 120 scientific publications and an active role in scientific congresses, symposia, and conferences in Bulgaria and abroad, Prof. Uzunov remains committed to expanding the boundaries of dental medicine. More than 50 lectures delivered at national and international forums underscore his contribution to the professional community.
