Dr. Raya Grozdanova-Uzunova, PhD

Dr. Grozdanova is a distinguished specialist in the fields of focal diagnostics and dental allergology, whose innovative approaches have significantly contributed to the development of these specific areas of dental medicine in Bulgaria. She was the first to officially introduce the use of infrared thermography for the diagnosis of focal infections (hidden inflammations) in the maxillofacial region. With over 17 years of experience in thermovisual diagnostics, Dr. Grozdanova has diagnosed hundreds of patients, establishing the method as a primary, non-invasive, safe, and precise tool for detecting hidden infections not only in the maxillofacial area but throughout the body.

At Uzunov Dental Clinic, she leads the departments of Focal Diagnostics, Dental Allergology, and Dental Physiotherapy, offering expert solutions for patients with complex medical and dental conditions. Her work in focal diagnostics is unique in that it combines traditional medical methods with cutting-edge technologies to ensure maximum precision and effectiveness in diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Grozdanova earned her PhD in 2012 with a pioneering dissertation on thermal diagnostics of focal infections in the maxillofacial region. She graduated with honors from the Faculty of Dental Medicine in Sofia in 2002 and obtained a specialization in Clinical Dental Allergology in 2015. Since then, she has been actively involved in allergy diagnostics, including performing prick tests for anesthetic allergies and epidermal tests for allergies to dental materials. Her work has helped numerous patients resolve complex allergy-related cases, providing personalized and safe solutions.

She has also taught students as a part-time assistant in the Department of Conservative Dentistry and the Dental Physiotherapy Unit. Currently, Dr. Grozdanova is a Chief Assistant at the Department of Oral and Imaging Diagnostics and teaches Oral Pathology and Clinical Dental Allergology at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Medical University - Sofia.

She lectures and conducts practical classes in both Bulgarian and English. She is a member of the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Dental Medicine and an associate lecturer at the Bulgarian Dental Union.

Her active participation in professional organizations further emphasizes her commitment to the dental profession.
