Assoc. Prof. Dr. Evgeni Alexiev, PhD

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Evgeni Alexiev is a recognized authority in oral and maxillofacial surgery, combining exceptional surgical skills with a strong academic background. His career spans complex clinical practice, innovative scientific research, and dedicated teaching, making him a respected figure in both medical and academic circles.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexiev is a lecturer and practicing surgeon with extensive experience in Dental, Oral, and Maxillofacial Surgery. He graduated in Dentistry in 1999, receiving the prestigious Golden Hippocrates award, after which he specialized in oral surgery (1999-2003) and later in maxillofacial surgery (2011-2016). In 2010, he obtained a master’s degree in Medicine, followed by a master’s in Health Management in 2013, and in 2018 he earned a PhD.

His professional path includes work at the University Hospital for Maxillofacial Surgery, University Hospital "St. Anna", and since 2016 at the Clinic of Maxillofacial Surgery, University Hospital "Alexandrovska". Since 2014, he has been part of the academic staff of the Department of Dental, Oral, and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Medical University of Sofia, progressing through the positions of Assistant Professor, Senior Assistant, and Associate Professor. He mentors students, residents, and PhD candidates, shaping the next generation of surgeons through evidence-based training and hands-on experience.

Over the years, he has mastered a broad range of surgical procedures - from complex extractions, cyst and tumor surgeries, and bone grafting, to trauma reconstruction and advanced dental implantology. In his daily practice, he integrates digital planning, 3D imaging diagnostics, and minimally invasive surgical techniques to ensure precise, predictable, and patient-centered outcomes.

Assoc. Prof. Alexiev is an active member of national and international professional organizations, including the European Association for Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery, the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the International Team for Implantology.

For his outstanding academic performance, he was awarded the Golden Hippocrates prize (1999). Today, he combines teaching with an active clinical practice, maintaining a high standard of care while training the next generation of specialists.
